Fall 2026 MIDI Chord Pack Is Out! Smarter Progressions, Slash Chords, Completely Free.
Great news, producers and composers! I'm happy to announce the Fall 2026 Edition of the SHLD MIDI Chord Pack. And yes, it's still completely free! 🎹✨
This update might look modest at first glance: the pack now contains 195 chord progressions per key, compared to 190 in the Spring 2026 version. But this time, the real work happened under the hood.
🍂 A Smarter Chord Generation Algorithm
I've been working on improving the chord generation algorithm to make the progressions more varied, less repetitive, and more musically alive.
Rather than simply adding lots of new progressions, I focused on improving the quality of the existing ones. 30+ chord progressions have been regenerated using the new algorithm, giving them more movement, variation, and interesting harmonic details.
Whether you're scoring a scene, building an ambient soundscape, or adding depth to your next melodic techno track, these refreshed progressions are designed to feel less predictable and more inspiring.
🍂 Slash Chords Are Now Supported
Another important addition: the generator now supports slash chords. These are chords with a specific bass note, such as C/E or Am/G. This opens up a whole new range of harmonic possibilities and allows for more interesting bass movement and smoother transitions between chords.
The result is a pack that should feel more alive and fluid, while keeping the workflow simple: find a progression, drag it into your DAW, and start creating. And as always, every progression is available in all keys, ready to drag and drop straight into your DAW or groovebox.
Expressive Chords Presets: Built Around Mood 🎭
Big news: my Fall 2026 Expressive Chords Presets Pack is here, and it's built around mood. Each preset now groups chords with similar moods, and every .adv file comes with a .txt file describing its chord progressions and their exact mood.
It's built with the Fall 2026 MIDI chord pack: 195 progressions, slash chords support, and a smarter chord generation algorithm. Everything is perfectly optimized for Ableton Live 12.2's Expressive Chords device.
