SHLD Multi-Layer Drone Instruments were created exactly for that purpose: to bring movement, tension, and organic texture into your music through carefully crafted analog recordings and modular experimentation.
These instruments were created using the Pro-1 or the Arturia Minifreak, combined with analog distortion chains and complex modulation systems patched through modular devices. The result is a collection of drones that constantly breathe, shift, and transform over time — moving from fragile atmospheric textures to deep cinematic darkness.
Each drone instrument contains 8 or 6 individual layers, fully multi-sampled across 8 octaves. Every recording pass includes unique modulation adjustments, giving each layer its own sonic personality and movement. Instead of static pads, you get evolving textures that react naturally as you perform across the keyboard.
The concept is simple but powerful: each octave unlocks a different layer of the sound.
Low octaves deliver unstable analog weight and deep growling tones, while higher octaves reveal harmonic textures, shimmering noise, rhythmic modulation, and airy cinematic details. By combining notes across octaves, you can shape continuously evolving soundscapes in real time — almost like conducting a slow-moving modular ecosystem.
These drones are designed for film scoring, dark ambient, experimental music, atmospheric electronica, and sound design sessions where emotion and texture matter more than pristine perfection.

The SHLD Minilogue XD presets and sampled instrument packs are:

Yes, you read correctly, unlike other preset packs, I multi-sampled the Minilogue, so you can use these sounds easily on your DAW or MPC!.
Minifreak Presets and Samples: 3 Multi-Layer drones
What’s better than one MiniFreak? Four MiniFreaks! 🎛️✨ For these soundscapes I combined 4 different Minifreak presets which are mapped to four octaves. So that you can modulate the drones by playing on differents octaves. That means you can mix, match, and blend them freely to create evolving textures and immersive soundscapes. And if you're into Ambient / LoFi / Downtempo, then your can use the 2 upper layers only, to add nice textures to your tracks 😉
On C1-C2 we usually have a deep growling drone, on C3 a medium drone, on C4 some high textures or noise, and on C5 more rhythmic elements.

Pro-1 Analog Modular Multi-Samples: 3 instruments, 24 drones
These drones were created with the PRO-1 and various custom modular synth elements, distortions, and a Makenoise Maths module to craft complex cinematic and industrial atmospheres.
Each instrument is multi-sampled across 8 layers, where modulations were adjusted for each recording. Each layer starts on the note C in octave 0, with the final layer on C in octave 7. This way, you can combine each layer by playing in different octaves to evolve the cinematic soundscape.
