I recently bought a second-hand Behringer Neutron, only to discover it was badly misconfigured. Some settings — like the blocked MIDI channel — could only be changed through the original 2019 editor software. The problem? Behringer no longer hosts it anywhere.

The Behringer Neutron is a fantastic semi-modular synthesizer, but some of its parameters, most notably the MIDI channel assignment can only be configured through the dedicated PC/Mac editor. If your unit is stuck on the wrong channel, you're essentially locked out of MIDI control until you can access that software.

The Problem

Behringer originally shipped a companion editor application for the Neutron back in 2019. At some point, they quietly removed it from their website. If you buy a used Neutron today and the previous owner left it in an odd state (a blocked MIDI channel for instance) there's no official way to fix it. The support pages simply don't link to the software anymore.

The Archaeology

After several hours of digging through forum archives, cached pages, and forgotten corners of the internet, I managed to recover the original zip files for both macOS and Windows. I'm hosting them here so they don't disappear again.

The Downloads

Both archives have been run through VirusTotal with no issues detected but legacy software always carries some risk. I'd strongly recommend running these on a dedicated machine or a VM rather than your main production system. Please note that I could not run the Neutron Firmware updater on a recent MacOS release.
